Students enjoy a self-guided exploration of our museum exhibits and activities. Groups of 25 students or more may schedule a field trip at a reduced rate. Adult chaperones are required for all groups. Up to six chaperones are admitted at no charge. Additional adults pay the student rate.
(see "About Your Visit"). Fee:

A Kaleidoscope of Colors (Grades preK-4)
Kaleidoscopes
are a wonderful way to learn about the magic of light and color!
Students are introduced to the main principles of these instruments
including reflected light and symmetry. Then, students will get
to build their very own kaleidoscope!
Inch by Inch (Grades preK-2)
A
variety of measurement activities, storytelling and crafting a
take-home "inchworm ruler" are all combined to introduce
children to the idea of measurement.
From Roots to Shoots (Grades preK-2)
Through music and movement we will review the basic parts of plants and what they need to thrive.
Kids will get an up-close look at live roots and take home their own seed-growing
project.
Bubble-ology (Grades preK-4)
Bubbles
are just plain fun but they're also a fascinating way to learn
about the science of air pressure, surface tension, and more.
We'll have fun producing various bubble creations and also learn
about the many uses of bubbles in today's world.
Tower of Power (Grades 1-5)
Students learn about some "fun"damental principles of
architecture as they are challenged to engineer their own tower
out of the materials supplied.
Newton Says (Grades 1-5)
Students
are introduced to concepts of friction, inertia and gravity as we
review Newton's Laws of Motion. Our creative, hands-on workshop
culminates in a wacky and wild hovercraft race!
The Dirt on Dirt! (Grades 2-5)
In the eco-friendly program, students learn about recycling, composting and the art of making dirt. We'll analyze the components of dirt and along the way, be introduced to nature's amazing natural composter, the mighty earthworm!
Chemistry Creations (Grades 2-5)
While we explore different states of matter and the science of chemistry, we'll mix, measure and manipulate substances to make a fun and exciting creation!
Magnetic Mysteries (Grades 3-5)
Students learn about the magnetic properties of different materials and conduct hands-on experiments examining invisible magnetic fields. Then, they produce their own take-home magnetic compass!
Pixel Perfect (Grades 3-6)
Most
of us take television for granted but a lot of interesting science
has been devoted to this invention! In this high-tech workshop
using our on-site ESPN exhibit, kids learn how their own images
are converted into digital data and then re-assembled to form
an electronic display.
